Terrible Sequel to a 5-Star Film

This film repulsed me with the Heather Meterazzo scene. It ruined the whole movie for me and I loved, loved Hostel, the original.

Hostel: Part 2.

I think that Eli Roth definitely improved as a filmmaker if you noticed that his first film Cabin Fever was a total mess and to this day I still hate that film, however I changed my opinion about Eli Roth being a total hack once I saw Hostel. I thought that Hostel was quite a disturbing but fun horror film that was very entertaining and the idea of a place where rich people get to torture and kill people for a high price was a scary and unique idea, Hostel 2 picks up more or less where the last one left off with Paxton who survived the last time but is now running for his life and is in hiding, he is haunted by the events of the first film however its not going to be easy this time as he is found out and is killed by the same people who are running this Elite hunting club.

After this great and suspenseful opening sequence we meet another set of victims only this time their three girls Beth (Lauren German), Whitney (Bijou Phillips) and a nerdy girl named Lorna (Heather Matarazzo). Whats really interesting about these girls is that their more laid back and not obnoxious or horny like the guys from the first film, Eli made these girls seem more likeable so it becomes alot harder when it comes to their demise, they're looking for a good time and hopefully go to a place where they could relax from college life and studying really hard somewhere like a spa!.

The three of them soon decide to take a vacation traveling to Slovenia in Eastern Europe and so you'll probably know what will happen next, some parts were a bit predictable cause we probably seen this stuff before but Eli Roth also added a few new things and some twists and turns that I did not expect even though it doesn't depart that much from the original, there is also a subplot where we get to see what happens with this underground cult who enjoy torturing and killing people and how they make a profit by making an online auction where rich people start bidding on the victims, I like the dark and twisted humor Eli Roth added to this film it somehow fits in with the rest of the film. The two rich businessmen that are introduced were also interesting as they prepare to mutilate and kill one of the girls, one of them looks like a total nutcase and the other who has some doubts and might change his mind only its already too late. The gore and death scenes were quite good I was impressed by this and I'm usually the type of person that hates most of these modern exploitation films I absolutely hated the Saw series and the fact that they were so over the top and had no substance or a good storyline however with Hostel 2 it was not the case.

I did enjoy this film alot the best death scene had to be when Lorna was hanging naked and upside down while being slashed to death with a huge cicle and the blood starts spilling on one of the women torturers it was a bloody good scene some other gore scenes include a guy with his leg chopped off and parts of it being eaten on a plate and a girl with her face being sawed off only it wasn't as gruesome as I thought and not as disturbing as the first film I still cringed abit at some parts especially towards the end where it was abit shocking and the acting was good from most of the cast. Now this film did not have as much nudity as the first and some of you out there who hated the first film are obviously going to hate this its probably not going to appeal to alot of people but if you are curious or just like gory horror films then you should check it out if you liked the fist one then this will be worth your time, this is how a sequel should be done.

An improvement over the original!

Three American girls (Bijou Phillips, Lauree German and Heather Matarazzo) are on a European vacation in studying art. They aboard a train from Italy to Slovokia where they stay for a while at a local hostel that has a unique hot springs spa where it seems like a harmless vacation, it later turns into a nightmare of unrelentless horror when they are kidnapped by criminals that torture and murder people for profit but can they escape the horror of it all?

While the original movie was a good if flawed effort into torture horror, i believe this is a very slight improvement over the original movie. Writer-Director Eli Roth and producer Quention Tarantino really delivers a sequel with more thrills and chills plus more gore such as the cringe-inducing castration sequence that is quite realistic, a young boy being shot, saw-blade to the skull etc. and decent acting. There is some darkly humorous moments especially the ending which i can't reveal but has to be seen to believe, legendary Italian horror director Ruggero Deoato (director of "Cannibal Holocaust" and "Jungle Holocaust") makes an amusing cameo appearence as a cannibal doctor.

This DVD contains the uncut unrated version with footage not shown in the theatrical cut and has some goodies like three audio commentaries, radio interview with Eli Roth, deleted scenes, Gag Reel, International Televison Special on the film's making, and four featurettes.
