Hip Hop FAB!
I used to exercise regularly, about 30-60 minutes a day five times a week. However, when I graduated from college and lost my free gym membership, I fell out of the habit of exercising. What's more, I tore an oblique muscle a couple years ago that still acts up when I try to do crunches, and I can't run anymore due to an old knee injury. I had been looking for a good at-home workout that would not strain my knees or my side, but I figured that'd be impossible to find. I had seen Hip Hop Abs advertised last spring, but like many people, I was skeptical of any infomercial workout that looked like so much fun. Still, after months of feeling desperate to get into shape again, I read up on Hip Hop Abs on a variety of online product review sites. After seeing that the majority of the reviews were overwhelmingly positive, I threw caution to the wind and purchased the first Hip Hop Abs package: Secret to Flat Abs, Fat Burning Cardio, Total Body Burn, Ab Sculpt, plus Last Minute Abs and Hips, Buns, and Thighs.
I have to say, this is one of the best investments I've ever made -- what a great program! The workouts are strenuous enough that you work up a good sweat but not so exhausting that you can't move the next day (though you totally "feel the burn"). Even better, my knees are fine with this program, and amazingly, my oblique has not acted up either. Shaun-T has absolutely infectious energy and is a great motivator -- he makes the workouts fly by (seriously, 30 minutes feels more like 10), and he's really funny to boot. I've only been doing the program for a week so far, but I'm already seeing results: my legs, stomach, and shoulders are much firmer, and my jeans fit noticeably better. I'll write more after I've been doing the program for longer, but for now I am very, very happy with the results. I look forward to keeping this up and trying all of the workouts.
Quick results
After only 3 sessions with about, say, 80% effort on my part, the lower part of my stomach has deflated a bit.
Ha ha, but beware, your ENTIRE body will ache for two days straight after these workouts, which is ironically a good thing.
The only things that bug me but are not necessarily bad is how Shaun T is always being cutesy and the camera always goes to the other dancers' abs and not always on Shaun T to perform the move. Also, the modified-version dancer is barely focused on for people who don't want to "add some funk" to their moves.
But all in all, I'm happy with moving my body in a different way and seeing faster results by it.
EXCELLENT DVD - AMAZING and FUN!!!!
My 11-year old and I LOVE THIS DVD/Exercise program.I saw the Hip Hop Abs program on TV and visited their website, but it looked suspicious, so I googled ratings and reviews and found that purchasing from the actual company is not a great idea. So I visited Amazon, it arrived quickly and in perfect condiont. This exercise program has fun music and Shawn T teaches the moves at an appropriate pace - not too slow and not too fast. He adds moves and steps and actions a little at a time. I would suggest this for anyone, including beginners!! There are people on the DVD doing high impact/lots of movement and then there is 1 gal that shows the low impact/lighter way to do that same exercise and you can choose. Shawn T is a great coach - he looks like he's enjoying himself and it makes you want to continue even if you are sort of tired. I have osteoarthritis and feet issues and I love this program. I take the low impact approach and with the music and fun actions - my abs and the rest of my body are doing great!!! My 11 year old actually enjoys exercising now that we have this DVD - he's been pretty much a couch potato before this! It doesn't have any inappropriate language or body movements, just fun beats and music. BUY IT and ENJOY!!!
