Iceman

I thought Season 6, part 1 was the weakest season thus far, but still kept my attention. I agree with past reviews that Tony's coma could have involved fewer episodes, and the Vito Bedroom scence could have been left to one's imagination, but the expansion of A.J.'s character, and Phil's character more than made up for these shortfalls. I also agree that although "Kaiesha" is episode 12 out of 20, it should have been a more explosive episode, given we will wait quite some time for episode 13. I have bought season 6 part 1, and do not regret it

Sopranos Sell-out

I have spent thousands of dollars for the priviledge of watching "The Sopranos" on HBO and on DVD. It is without question my favorite television show. I have bought every Sopranos boxed set, and went online to buy the sixth season on DVD for my holiday viewing pleasure. I'm not going to get into a critique of this season as compared to the previous five... but I am pissed off that they are forcing me to take another "bite of the apple" by splitting this season into two parts a la every other series that's been milked to death by soulless networks. I thought the Sopranos franchise was above all that BS. Not to mention, I loved that all the boxes were the same exact format -- until now. Well, guess what? Not only am I not buying the season six DVD sets... now that Deadwood's been cancelled, I won't be renewing my HBO subscription. Take that, Carmi.

A great start to the season

The bad news is that this is only part of season six, so the payoff to all the plot lines isn't there, and the set just sort of ... ends.

The good news is that there's been a ton of great set-up for the end of the season and if the payoff is half as good as the set-up, season six, in its entirety, will definitely be a series high water mark.

And it's not that there aren't great stories told in this half of the season, either. In particular, Vito finally takes center stage and the Soprano family's relationship with the New York mob takes several violent twists.

As an incomplete season, this DVD set is unsatisfying in that so many plot threads are left dangling. If this is the kind of thing that will bother you (it seems to bother a lot of people), wait on the next DVD set being released before picking this up.
