| DVD Description You'd expect a cavalcade of cuteness from any pairing of Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant, but Two Weeks Notice admirably avoids the obvious. You get plenty of Bullock's pratfalls and feisty sex appeal, and Grant's snappy comebacks are never in short supply, but first-time writer-director Marc Lawrence (who wrote Bullock's previous hit, Miss Congeniality) adds just enough antagonism to keep this romantic comedy from being a completely foregone conclusion. Neurotic lawyer, environmentalist, and landmark-preservation activist Lucy Kelson (Bullock) is determined to thwart the efforts of billionaire developer and jet-setting playboy George Wade (Grant); of course, fate brings them together and then rips them apart, just as they're beginning to feel the panicky pangs of love. A replacement attorney (Alicia Witt) defies formula by being genuinely sweet, and Lawrence steers clear of the most familiar clichés. It's formulaic anyway, but in Two Weeks Notice it's a comforting formula, delivered by stars who thrive within their limitations. --Jeff Shannon |

Another fun and cute Hugh Grant movie! I pretty much own all of Hugh Grant's movies, so this is just another one in my collection, however it is a very cute romantic movie with Hugh providing his typical subtle little one-liners. Sandra Bullock is another of my favorite actresses and the two of them have a wonderful chemistry together. It's just a really great film and it's one that you want to just watch over and over.
Sparks fly, well almost. Two Weeks Notice starring Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant is a cute and safe romantic comedy. There are some funny scenes in this film but of course the chemistry is awkwardly steamy. Grant always seems lazy in the love department, his chemistry with Drew Barrymore in Music and Lyrics is on the breezy side as well. Bullock's appeal saves this film, the scenes where she is ordering gallons and gallons of chinese food is a riot. This film is an office romance so it does have some orginality to it but otherwise it's pretty much a standard love story. Two Weeks Notice is worth a notice or two though. Enjoy!
SO FUNNY TWO WEEKS NOTICE is one of my favorite movies. There. I said it. Read on to see why I love this movie.
TWO WEEKS NOTICE is the story of Lucy (Sandra Bullock), a very. . . It's hard to describe her. She aspires to be a great lawyer - and in truth is - but she settles to work at Legal Aide and do pro-bono work instead of going and making money. Until she meets George Wade (Hugh Grant!).
George Wade is a multi-millionaire businessman, the face of Wade Corporations. He hires Lucy while he is in need of an assistant. They make a bargain - she'll work for him and help him get his building built, but he must keep the Coney Island Community Center. This works - for a while.
Lucy finally gets fed up with George's late night calls and strange demands and his lack of R-E-S-P-E-C-T (see movie for joke). So she gives him her two weeks' notice. But the thing is, Lucy is in love with George, but is too prideful to admit it.
This movie is so well written and well done overall. Hugh Grant does a wonderful job as George, whether you want to admit or not. He and Sandy Bullock may not have perfect chemistry, but they are so funny together. There are moments in the movie that make me laugh out loud. And I rarely laugh out loud.
LUCY: I think you are the most selfish person on the planet, George. GEORGE: That's just silly. Have you met everyone on the planet?
See this movie. It's genuinely funny. |
