DVD Description

This is the film that cemented Schwarzenegger's spot in the action-brawn firmament, and it was well deserved. He's chilling as the futuristic cyborg who kills without fear, without love, without mercy. James Cameron's story and direction are pared to the bone and all the more creepy. But don't overlook the contributions of Linda Hamilton, who more than holds her own as the Terminator's would-be victim, Sarah Connor--thus creating, along with Sigourney Weaver in Alien, a new generation of rugged, clear-thinking female action stars. It's surprising how well this film holds up, and how its minimalist, malevolent violence is actually way scarier than that of its far more expensive, more effects-laden sequel. --Anne Hurley

Customer Reviews

I love the Terminator

I love the terminator movies, and even though this one is kinda bad with the specail effects, its awsome. I mean, you can't really blame the special effects for not being great, it is an older movie. I am glad I bought it.

Fun robot movie

What can I say? It's a fun movie with plenty of thought put behind the time travel story line.

My other favorite cyborg

I knew this was coming. There was no way I could review Robocop and not the Terminator. This and T2 is by far my favorite Arnie flicks and for alot of reasons. The story and plot is excellent and all of the characters are great.

I won't even touch the story to this one. I'm just going to explain why I like it. This has some very good character development involving Linda Hamilton. I like the way she evolved and didn't continue to play the helpless chick. She also wasn't one of those annoying broads that screamed her way through the movie. Schwarzenegger kicked a** as the unstoppable machine. Micheal Biehn was very good as the future soldier.

The special effects even for that time was great to me. I enjoyed the flashbacks of the war torn world. The action scenes were nothing short of outstanding. And who doesn't love the police station assault? It amazes me sometimes how some of today's movies action sequences can't even match up with this. Even with a higher budget. And you gotta love that soundtrack. It completely fits every single scene and captures the mood its trying to set. I can go on and on about why I love this movie.

Terminator is a masterpiece to me. I would definitly hate to see a remake of this. Because we all know the formula for the summer blockbusters. Over done special effects, hot chicks everywhere(not complaining just making a point), mindless destruction, and a watered down story. This film is best left untouched.
